Remarketing and Retargeting

You research keywords. You write ads. You spend money on Google Adwords, Yahoo and Bing. You get your Meta data perfected. You do link building. You write a blog. You reach out to new users on Twitter, Facebook and elsewhere.

This drives visitors to your website… and then…most of them leave, never to return.

Does all that sound a bit too familiar? Good news: it doesn’t have to be this way. Thanks to a piece of technology called ‘remarketing’ or ‘retargeting’, Barracuda Digital can reach out to those people who have left your website, and get them back and buying from you.

Here’s how it works

Imagine you run a travel website. Someone searches for ‘great hotel in Malibu’. Your website comes up in the organic search results (because you’re already working with the Barracuda Digital SEO team!). The user clicks and visits your website. They look at your website, scan a few hotels, and then leave.

Later on that day they’re catching up on the news on Guardian.co.uk. With a Remarketing we can serve them an advert for your website – and the specific hotels they reviewed on your website – along with a special offer.

The advert serves to remind the user that they needed to book a hotel. They’re already familiar with your brand so are comfortable to click. And they appreciate getting a special offer, so are happy to buy straight away.

And it really does work

Remarketing campaigns can achieve an improvement in conversion rate of over 4,000%. Remarketing will outperform almost any other form of online advertising.

Here’s the science bit

Barracuda Digital produce javascipt tags which you place on your website. The tags tell us:

  • *what products people looked at
  • *whether they put anything in the basket
  • *whether they bought something from you

We then produce creative that appeal to every individual

For example, to those visitors who put a product in their basket but who didn’t complete the purchase, we would serve an advert for that product along with a ‘money off’ voucher. To those users who had bought a Paul Smith shirt we would serve an advert for some Paul Smith cuff links. Remarketing is a strong way for you to boost sales and ROI. And we can do that for you.
