It may have come late to the party, but the Google +1 button is the social media plug-in that may well have the biggest impact on your website.
The Google +1 buttons allow users to recommend your website or content to other both inside and outside their social circle. Those recommendations are displayed on the all-important Google Search Engine Results pages.
And the good news is that Google have rolled out +1 metrics reports in Google Webmaster Tools that show you how the +1 button affects the traffic coming to your pages:
Search Impact Report
If you navigate to the Search Impact report you can see how +1‘s are affecting your organic search traffic.
The report shows whether the personalised recommendation of a +1 button helped your click through rate.
Simple compare clicks and impressions on search results with and without +1 annotations.
The report only shows statistics on click through rate changes when you have enough impressions for a meaningful comparison.
Activity Report
This shows how many times your pages have been +1’d, from buttons both on your site and on other pages (such as Google search).
Audience Report
This shows aggregate geographic and demographic information about the Google users who’ve +1’d your pages.
Google waits until a significant number of users have +1’d pages from your site before showing audience information when to protect privacy.
That’s it
