Audio Indexing for Video SEO
I was really excited to read and play around with Google's new Audio Video Indexing launched in Beta Version Via Google Labs 2 weeks ago. At present most online video content is only indexed by the metadata and keyword rich descriptions attached to it and there has been much debate in the past about the possibilities of Semantic video indexing, the process of automatically detecting the presence of semantic concepts in a video stream. Google's new service goes someway towards addressing the challenge for searchers finding and consumer relevant Online Video content.
So what is it and how does it work? Google Audio uses speech technology to find spoken words inside videos and lets the user jump to the right portion of the video where these words are spoken. The service uses speech technology called Gaudi The (short for Google Audio Indexing) to transform spoken words into text and leverages the Google indexing technology to return the best results to the user.
The returned videos are ranked based on the spoken content, as well as the metadata and the freshness of content so populating unique meta data and title tags is still a critical elemenst of Video SEO.
Samples of the new service can viewed on US election material, to view examples of the Gaudi Video Service here.
